President's Message - January 2018
Happy New Year. I sincerely hope that everyone found some time to relax and recharge over the recent holiday break.
Your Auditing Association of Canada (AAC) Board of Directors continues to be very active behind the scenes in planning, governance and member service related activities and I’d like to take this opportunity to communicate some of our recent
First and foremost, if you have not yet renewed your membership for 2018, please do so before the late fee kicks in on March 1st. The deadline for payment
is February 28, 2018. We thank you for renewing your membership and look forward to your continued and valued participation in the AAC. Based on our 2017 registrations, we’ve seen our membership grow by 15% and we’d like to see this momentum continue.
Secondly, please consider attending the upcoming ISO 14001 Colloquium which is being held in Milton, Ontario on February 21 and 22, 2018. Additional details and
registration information can be found on our web-site. Attendance at the colloquia are by invitation only. This opportunity is made available to you as members of the Association.
Thirdly, the AAC is providing a H&S Lead Auditor course in Edmonton February 5-9th. This course will meet the formal training requirements for the Certified Health and Safety Management System Auditor (CHSMSA) designation. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for information or to register.
Fourthly, we have submitted comments to the Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) regarding their proposed Voluntary Occupational Health and Safety Management System Accreditation and Employer Recognition Program. MOL is proposing a requirement for auditing both of the management systems and the employer conformity claims.
Lastly, and we hope of significant interest to all of you, is our annual AAC conference which is being held at the Delta Hotels Kananaskis Lodge in Alberta on April 23-24, 2018 with workshops planned for April 25th. The workshops have been defined and we are actively populating the conference agenda with high quality and informative speakers that we are certain will provide a message of direct relevance and importance to our members and anyone else active in our service areas. Again, please visit our website for registration, conference session topics and a description of our workshops.
